Linda Tavaszi, Executive Director,
Physician Services and the Marin Cancer & Heart Institutes, Marin
General Hospital
Linda returned to MGH after a ten year absence which included
time spent as CEO at a hospital in Barcelona, Spain, in the East Bay working
on mergers and acquisitions, at UC Medical Center, relocating the entire
cancer program into a new building, and three years as CEO of Kentfield
Rehabilitation Hospital.
As senior vice president at MGH from 1982-1994, she was responsible for
directing the program, managing the construction, and controlling the
budget of the award-winning patient care building. Linda is well known
for exceptionally effective working relationships with physicians, promoting
performance improvement, addressing cultural diversity, and creating enhanced
customer, community, and employee satisfaction.

Cynthia A. Cantril, RN, OCN, MPH, Breast Health Program
Coordinator, Nurse Navigator
Cindi is a certified cancer nurse with over 30 years of nursing experience
in surgical, medical and radiation oncology. A national leader in oncology
nursing, she has developed cancer recovery programs in Montana and is actively
involved with national cancer organizations. She was recruited to MCI in
2004 to develop and coordinate an expanded breast health program. Cindi
serves as overall Program Coordinator and is also the lead Nurse Navigator,
helping guide patients through their care. In addition, she facilitates
support groups and conducts a variety of recovery programs. She brought
the Healing with Horses equine therapy program to Marin County. Cindi received
her nursing and bachelor degrees from Meramec Community College (Missouri)
and a Masters of Public Health from the University of California (Berkeley). |

Jenny Shaw, Manager of Operations, MCI
Jenny provides excellent management and administrative support for MCI, including the Radiation Oncology Department. This includes scheduling and coordinating details for patient conferences for the Prostate/GU and GI Cancer Programs. Jenny brings extensive organizational skills to the Marin Cancer Institute. She attended college in Central California and Santa Rosa. Jenny worked for 10 years as a Coordinator in the Intensive Care Unit at DMC in Modesto, California. She took time off work to raise her family before returning to work at MCI, where she has been on staff since 2002.

Diane Brandon, Cancer Resource Specialist, Cancer Resource & Recovery, MCI Center
Diane helps patients, family members/friends and community members who are in search of information, resources, and community support regarding cancer. She also serves as a patient mentor in MCI’s Healing with Horses program. As a breast cancer survivor and trained Cancer Guide, Diane brings both personal and professional expertise to her work. She holds a Masters Degree in Spirituality from Holy Names College (Oakland, CA) and has a variety of healthcare experience, including working as a patient care coordinator in cancer specialist physician offices. Diane has worked at MCI since 2005.
“More than five years after my own cancer diagnosis, I am privileged to work with those who are in search of resources and information. I remind people that I don’t know everything- but I know the people who do. My goal here is to reach out to those who are newly diagnosed and in treatment, so that they won’t ever have to say what I said five years ago:
‘If I had only known in the beginning how much help was available.”

Sandy Schindler, LCSW, Social Worker
As MCI’s social worker, Sandy sees patients and families both individually
and together, and provides consultation to staff and physicians regarding
the patient’s/family’s special needs. Sandy is a licensed clinical
social worker, and has worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including
hospital oncology units, psychiatric departments, and emergency departments.
She has facilitated the Northbay Cancer Support group for over 6 years,
and has also had a private psychotherapy practice for over 20 years. She
has worked at MCI since 2005. Sandy received her masters of social work
degree from the University of California (Berkeley). “It has
always been my goal to enable people to live their lives with dignity
and grace, and to help them embrace their challenges- whether medical
or personal. Because I have lost some of my own family to cancer, I am
especially committed to providing compassion and strength to those affected
by this life-changing experience. Providing emotional support and coping
skills to people facing cancer is both professionally and personally rewarding.”

Jeannine Vitali-Schulz, RD, Oncology Dietician
As the Oncology Dietician for the Marin Cancer Institute, Jeannine specializes
in providing nutrition support to cancer patients. A registered dietician,
she has lectured extensively on the topic of Nutrition and Cancer. She completed
her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition at the University of California
(Davis) and her dietetic internship at the University of California (San
Francisco). She is a member of the American Dietetic Association, Oncology
Nutrition Dietetics Practice Group and several other professional societies.
