Francine Halberg, M.D., Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Halberg has practiced radiation oncology at MCI since 1991. More than
60% of her patients are women with breast cancer. In addition to her practice,
she is Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California (San
Francisco). Known for her patient care and clinical skill, she has been
named as one of the "Bay Area's Best Doctors" and "Top Doctors
in the U.S.". Widely published in peer-review journals, she serves
on many state and national studies and committees, including the California
State Breast Cancer Research Council and Marin County's Women's Health Study.
She received her medical degree from Cornell University (New York) and completed
her residencies at Stanford University Medical Center. Prior to starting
her practice In Marin County, she was a fulltime faculty member at Stanford
and later at UCSF. |

Lloyd Miyawaki, M.D., MCI Medical Director, Radiation
Oncologist
Hawaii native Lloyd Miyawaki joined the Marin Cancer Institute in 1997,
and is Medical Director of MCI as well as the MCI Radiation Oncology Department.
Dr. Miyawaki received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University,
before receiving his medical degree from UCSF and a Masters of Public Health
from the University of California (Berkeley). He did his specialty training
at UCSF. He is board certified in radiation oncology and is affiliated with
the Seattle Prostate Institute and the PRO+QURA prostate brachytherapy quality
assurance program. Dr. Miyawaki is also Assistant Clinical Professor at
the University of California (San Francisco). |

Joseph C. Poen, M.D., Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Poen is a board-certified radiation oncologist with special training
and interest in gastrointestinal cancer, including colorectal cancer.
He received his medical degree at the University of California (Los Angeles),
where he also completed his radiation oncology residency and received
numerous academic honors. Prior to joining MCI in 2000, he was associated
with Stanford University School of Medicine, where he was Director of
the Gastrointestinal Comprehensive Cancer Clinic and Tumor Board, Associate
Professor of Radiation Oncology, and principal investigator in radiation
therapy research trials. He has lectured across the country and is widely
published in peer-review journals on radiation oncology, including the
treatment of pancreas cancer and a variety of other cancers.

time to see patients on short notice, seeking to understand all of the
relevant medical and personal issues, providing information and answering

Ernest (Wayne) Torigoe, M.D., PhD, Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Torigoe is a board-certified radiation oncologist and an approved investigator
for a number of National Cancer Institute clinical trials. He received his
PhD in physics from Stanford University, his medical degree from the University
of California (Los Angeles), and completed his residency at the University
of California (San Francisco). He has been on the MCI staff since 1982. |
