Marin Cancer Institute’s Cancer Resource & Recovery Center is many things to many people. This unique space in the atrium of the Institute serves as a hub of information and support services to cancer patients, their families, and friends, or as a quiet place to sip a cup of tea while waiting for a class to begin. Browse the shelves or ask one of the helpful members of the MCI staff for assistance.
As a library, the Center provides books, magazines and newsletters as well as lending out CD’s DVD’s and videos on a variety of topics including a recent Breast Cancer Symposium given by top specialists in the field. Medical textbooks and newsletters are all available at the Center, and online research can be done at the Internet workstation. Reliable medical websites have been researched and provided by library specialist, Kathie Renick. Learn more about reliable online researching.
The Center is part of a three-site health information network that includes the Marin General Hospital Medical Library and the Health Education Resource Center at Novato Community Hospital. Through this network the center is also connected to the California Pacific Medical Center's Health & Healing Library. For library hours and locations click here.
Our libraries can conduct in-depth research through a computer search of the consumer-oriented InFoTrac and the National Library of Medicine's Medline. All informational materials are obtainable in English and many are available in Spanish.
